Offbeat Fort Trekking & Heritage Experience

Nestled at 3,700 ft in the Satmala ranges of Nashik, Chaulher Fort (also known as Chaurgad) is a lesser-known gem for trekkers and history lovers. This offbeat destination blends natural beauty with rich heritage, offering a serene alternative to crowded Sahyadri trails—perfect for beginners seeking authenticity and solitude.

Historically significant, Chaulher Fort has witnessed the reigns of the Mughals, Marathas, and British, serving as a strategic watchpoint over trade routes and valleys. Its remnants—fort walls, bastions, caves, water cisterns, and ancient temples—echo tales of power struggles and architectural resilience.

🗺️ Trek Highlights:

Peaceful, uncrowded trail through rugged terrain

Temples and caves with archaeological intrigue

Rock-cut cisterns still holding potable water

Breathtaking views of Dhodap, Ikhara & Saptashrungi ranges

Whether you’re drawn by history, nature, or the thrill of discovery, Chaulher Fort promises a memorable trekking experience steeped in legacy and tranquility.
